Day 1: Wednesday

09:00 – 13:30    Arrive Canyonlands Airport CNY Aircraft Inspections (conducted with your A/C)

                        Registration and Check-in (Aarchway Inn, Moab)

 

14:30 - 15:30     Aircraft Performance, (ground roll, climb to 50ft), Turn Radius and Airspeed, Flying a Stabilized Approach.  Preparation for Thursday's flight lesson  (Chapter 1)

15:30 - 15:45     Break

 

15:45 - 16:30     Emergency Maneuvers / Canyon Turns

 

16:30 - 17:15     Backcountry Aircraft Preflight Items  (Chapter 1)

 

17:30 - 18:30     Interview pilots

 

19:00 – 20:30    Get Acquainted Dinner “Fiesta Mexicana” / meet your instructors & flight assignments

 

Day 2: Thursday    Bring your aircraft POH or Owners Manual to class Thursday

07:00 - 12:00     Morning’s flight (Depart Canyonlands CNY / fly planned route of airstrips)

 

Lunch               Provided at one of the airstrips (TBD) Ground school in the field

12:00 -13:00      Aircraft Performance Cards/Navigation in Mountain and Canyon Areas (Chapter 2&3)

           

13:00 - 14:30     Visit additional airstrips/return to Canyonlands airstrip/refuel       

 

15:30 - 17:00     Density Altitude and Aircraft Performance (Chapter 4) or free time

 

19:00 -  Dinner   TBA   (Flight assignments for Friday)

 

Day 3: Friday

07:00 - 12:00     Mornings flight (Depart Canyonlands CNY / fly planned route of airstrips)

 

Lunch               Provided at one of the airstrips (TBD) Ground school in the field

12:00 - 13:00     Aim-Point Air Speed

 

13:00 - 14:30     Visit additional airstrips/return to Canyonlands airstrip/refuel       

 

15:30 - 17:00     Landing Areas (Chapter 5) or free time

                                      

19:00 - Dinner    TBA      (Flight assignments for Saturday)

 

Day 4: Saturday

07:00 - 12:00     Morning flight (Depart Canyonlands CNY / fly planned route of airstrips)

 

Lunch              

12:00 – 13:00    Provided at one of the airstrips/return to Canyonlands airstrip/refuel

 

13:00 - 14:30     Visit additional airstrips/return to Canyonlands airstrip for Rock Climbing, rappelling or river rafting

 

15:30 – 18:00    Rock Climbing, rappelling or river rafting

 

19:00 - Dinner    Banquet dinner at the “TBD”:  PARTY!

 

Day 5: Sunday

This is a day to prep to depart for home, a “make-up day” for flight time or just fly a re-turn trip to an airstrip before going home.
